Former Swedish Foreign Minister Margot Wallström has joined the Advisory Council of the young Berlin and London think tank Centre for Feminist Foreign Policy.
Margot Wallström, who previously served as the Secretary General’s first special envoy for sexual violence in conflicts (2010-2012), announced the Feminist Foreign Policy of her country in the fall of 2014 as the then newly appointed Foreign Minister. This made Sweden the first country with a Feminist Foreign Policy. France, Mexico, Canada and Spain followed. As an Advisory Council member, she now supports the Centre for Feminist Foreign Policy, the first organisation dedicated to advocating for the global implementation of a feminist foreign policy.
The Centre for Feminist Foreign Policy is a charitable NGO based in London and Berlin, and the world’s first research and advocacy organisation promoting an intersectionally feminist and people-centred approach to foreign policy. Feminist Foreign Policy seeks to rebalance power inequalities which perpetuate systemic violence through capitalism, colonialism, and imperialism. It does so by providing a political framework which is informed by the everyday experiences and needs of people who are affected by the policy decision.

Die ehemalige schwedische Außenministerin Margot Wallström tritt dem Beirat des jungen Berliner und Londoner Think Tanks Centre for Feminist Foreign Policy bei.
Margot Wallström, die zuvor als die erste Sonderbeauftragte des Generalsekretärs für sexualisierte Gewalt in Konflikten der Vereinten Nationen wirkte (2010-2012), verkündete im Herbst 2014 als damals neu ernannte Außenministerin die feministische Außenpolitik ihres Landes. Damit wurde Schweden zum ersten Land mit einer feministischen Außenpolitik. Es folgten Frankreich, Mexiko, Kanada und Spanien. Nun unterstützt sie als Beirätin das Centre for Feminist Foreign Policy, die weltweit erste Organisaton, die sich für feministische Außenpolitik einsetzt.
Das Centre for Feminist Foreign Policy ist eine gemeinnützige Organisation (gGmbH) und setzt sich für eine feministische Außenpolitik ein, die die konventionellen Standards der internationalen Politik in Frage stellt. Feministische Außenpolitik bedeutet, alle diplomatischen und außenpolitischen Werkzeuge so einzusetzen, dass systemische Ungerechtigkeiten abgebaut werden und menschliche Sicherheit in den Vordergrund tritt. Denn nur so – statt eines Fokus auf militärische Stärke und nationalstaatliche Sicherheit – kann nachhaltiger Frieden erreicht werden. Ohne Feminismus kein Frieden.
