Though political representation is slowly becoming more diverse, foreign policy is still heavily dominated by white men. For example, only 32% of MPs in the House of Commons are women - though low, this is still a significant number as this also marks a historical high. There is still far to go to ensure that women are not just present at the table but taken seriously and that a wide range of lived experiences are utilised to inform policy decisions.
Please join The Foreign and Commonwealth Office Women (FCO Women)and The Centre for Feminist Foreign Policy (CFFP) for an evening fireside chat as we dive into this topic and discuss how to elevate women's voices in the foreign policy sphere.
The panel will be chaired by Kara Owen, Director Americas at the FCO and featured speakers include:
Sarah Fountain Smith, Deputy High Commissioner for Canada to the UK
Nomatemba Tambo, High Commissioner for South Africa to the UK
Marissa Conway, Co-Founder and UK Director of the Centre for Feminist Foreign Policy
